Artist Statement

My most fervent hope is to convey for the individual viewer my visions and experiences of a moment, capturing the harmony, solitude and simple beauty of nature. I wish for my paintings to strike a cord or memory for the individual viewer, a place familiar to them, bringing the outside in … into their interior

I am challenged to find my way with only brushes and tubes of paint in capturing mood, light and the feeling of a particular scene. Occasionally, I will paint plein air to fill all my senses while in nature, but mostly take photos on location developing paintings from several shots that document color, light and suggestions of the scene. With several shots and some imagination, the composition emerges and the painting acquires a voice of it’s own as I become the listener.
